driving through ohingaiti - the implement shed

this is Ohingaiti, normally one would not stop, a place to pass through. There was a railway crossing, a hall, a pub, an implement shed, an abandoned store, and not much else. But the light was nice, I pulled over, I think I will end it here.

driving through ohingaiti - the abandoned store

This is Ohingaiti, normally one would not stop, a place to pass through. There was a railway crossing, a hall, a pub, an implement shed, an abandoned store, and not much else. But the light was nice, I pulled over, took three dozen photos (I use a digital camera), I was happy now to drive on.

new zealand rural

new zealand rural, originally uploaded by Lester Ralph Blair.

The mural is a rural scene, but I photographed this in a small town. I like the idea of photography taking a part of someones public art and mixing with the surroundings to make something else, like a typical small town scene.

To choose to live on the coastline, in the direct path of the roaring 40's, funneling through the Cook Straight, requires a certain level of eccentricity. Roaring Forties

Usually one does not take the same photo twice lumpy cloud day but if it is more about the weather then that can be O.K. I'm thinking.

It has been like this for a long time, taken Sunday June 8th 2008, I think it is still the same, I shall have to take another look.

the working week

the working week, originally uploaded by Lester Ralph Blair.

I took this photo on the 30th April 2008, I remember it because it was my birthday, I had a day off, I was able to wander happily with a camera while other people were off to work. I had not posted this earlier because the light was difficult, a big range of f stops, but the new adobe lightroom has provided some tools to over come this.

I found this in Wadestown, one of the more genteel parts of town, yet the shops look old fashioned, with old fashioned signs of old fashioned food. Sunday afternoon, 14 September 2008.

I posted this for no other reason except that I liked the solid constructed feel of the composition, otherwise it is just a picture of a fire sprinkler system. Wednesday 3 September 2008

I did some heavy lightroom processing to bring this out of deep shadow, but as it turns out I'm happy with the rough grainy pixel look, it seems to suit the Cuba Street style. Sunday afternoon 7 September 2008.

the bed shop

the bed shop, originally uploaded by Lester Ralph Blair.

This one has been sitting on my hard drive for a while, taken Sunday afternoon 13 July 2008. A green mattress with big leaves and matching wallpaper is probably worth a photo, I may have had more pressing things to post at the time, while this one required a few more weeks before I felt confident about it.

not sure why, a lot of rain recently, maybe a slip from the bank behind. But it doesn't matter, it looked odd and we can attach any story we like.
