the flats, two kilometers from where I live

I liked the red and green house on the corner, the villas stacked up on the hillside, the sign saying 'museum cottage', and 'nairn street and the 'give way' sign too. I liked the large pole, the Pukehinau Flats with the stairs on the outside. I just liked the way they look, so I included them all in the photo and feeling satisfied with that, I walked home in the dark. Big is Better

aro park and two youths, saturday september 25, 6.30pm

We walked through Aro Park mid afternoon, on the way for a rental dvd. The sound of loud guitars and drums coming from the hall. Youths were drinking beer. I went back early evening with a photo in mind, everyone had gone bar two near the street lamp. It's too small, Check out the larger view.

friday september 24, 6.35pm

It was the end of a working day, and the start of the weekend. I grabbed the camera gear and began the weekend with a photo, a few metres from the front door. I then carried on and got take-aways. If you want to, go bigger.

saturday september 18, 6.30pm

It was Saturday evening and I wanted to take a photo. The wind was blowing stuff about, so I just went out the front door and set up the tripod holding it tightly, even my bag blew away. I will take a better one another time, the branches were waving about. bigger but not too large.

saturday september 18, 6.20am

It was forecast heavy rain and gale winds. Looking from my window before the sun came up, all seemed calm and clear. So with no particular plan in mind I set off for Bunny Street trying to beat the sun, I wanted to see some lights to shine. short cut to a little larger view

wet sunday morning

wet sunday morning, originally uploaded by Lester Ralph Blair.

On a wet and cold September morning I got out of bed early to go down to Willis Street where I imagined there might be a photo. Once under a veranda in the dry, I set up the camera on a tripod and took a couple of photos. The rain was horizontal, I called it quits I dried the camera and returned home for some more sleep. One click and it is bigger.

I went to nairn park, not sure why

Clouds were rolling in, going to rain soon. The sun was going down, not that you could see. Gusts of wind blowing leaves about. I got out of my armchair, thinking of a favorite view from Nairn Park. Photographed it often enough, but not at this time of day. For the benefit of your eyes view here.

big tall building

big tall building, originally uploaded by Lester Ralph Blair.

The Majestic Centre stands above all the other buildings, and even looks down on the hills around. In the daytime it is all reflections and black windows, basically a tall tube. At dusk it is different, all the lights come on, and there are people working there, even on a Sunday evening. The Big Tall View.

a street

a street, originally uploaded by Lester Ralph Blair.

I could have taken a car or gone for a walk. Instead I stood on a hill by untidy trees and looked down on a street when the lights were turning on. It seemed as good a place as any to take a photo. View Big.

dawn scene on karo drive #1

I was driving my car along Karo Drive and I wondered what it would look like with no traffic before the rising sun. I got up especially early and came down to karo drive to see. I set up my tripod on the pedestrian island, there were few about, so it seemed ok. I took a few photos and now I know what it is like on karo drive, saturday morning before the sun comes up. Larger can only be better.

karo drive #2, because I just cannot choose between the two

I was driving my car along Karo Drive and I wondered what it would look like with no traffic before the rising sun. I got up especially early and came down to karo drive to see. I set up my tripod on the pedestrian island, there were few about, so it seemed ok. I took a few photos and now I know what it is like on karo drive, saturday morning before the sun comes up. It's okay to go to the bigger view.
