smoke in the paddock

smoke in the paddock, originally uploaded by Lester Ralph Blair.

I was in the country side, a couple of hours out of the city, when I saw a photo opportunity. There was smoke rising from a field, I pulled over to see what was happening. There was a farm house over yonder, and a tractor driving around. I set up my tripod and was focusing when I noticed a car moving fast down the driveway, and now, I thought, I will have to explain myself...for a more pleasant down on the farm experience

empty space with puddle

I'm off to the country side for a few days, so in the mean time I shall leave this empty space. View large to ponder this space further.

landscape garden with downtown view

Between the sea and the city there is a small lagoon, around which there is a miniature landscape made up of boulders and shrubs. I was here in the process of taking a photo, when a man appeared and he struck a sort of action pose. I mades some small conversation to relieve the tension, but he soon was bored, and he left. I made my photo and walked away as well. The next step is to see it larger

lyall bay shore line with houses

My wife was getting her hair done, so to fill some time I went to Lyall Bay nearby. I found some steps and went down to see what was there on the shore line. There wasn't much, mostly pebbles, shells, plastic and some old rope. It was spitting rain on my head, but I set up my camera anyway and took this photo, hoping she would not be long. to avoid disappointment view here

art deco building with mostly grass

The same 'chaffers dock' building as previous photo, but with a more natural grassy park foreground. Larger view is the better view.

art deco building, car park and camper vans

The building is called 'chaffers dock', and it was once a post office. I was happy to be able to include camper vans, seagulls, church on a hill, yachts, motorcycle, houses and more besides. Bigger and Better

pedestrian over bridge with leaping girl

This is a favorite place to hang out, and take in the view of the harbour. Younger people though, like to climb or skate board about, and one of them here ended up in my photo incidentally. I was happy with that, otherwise it would have been mostly about a litter bin. It really should be viewed large.

building follies - part two

I heard a story about a man, possibly middle aged, who had a fantasy about living in a light house. So he built his own light house for himself and his wife, but unfortunately his wife would not live in it. I don't know if this is true, but anyway, here is a house that looks like a lighthouse. And the house next door has a balcony that is built like a row boat. enter here for a closer inspection of this building follie

some building follies in wellington new zealand

I positioned my self on the footbridge to get a view of the apartments with the blue roofed turrets. I can only imagine what it would be like to live there, but standing here I could see that visual interest has been added to the general landscape. Below a car had broken down, and the truck had arrived to take it away, that ended up in the photograph too. view Large and relax

a view from the scrub

a view from the scrub, originally uploaded by Lester Ralph Blair.

I thought this was a nice scene after a walk up a steep track. Was not actually intending to post, as I keep thinking it's just a scene, but I do like the small cluster of houses leading into the city. Have not been out with a camera for a couple of weeks, because of long periods of rain. Sit back and enjoy the big view
