It was twilight, and so far I had only one photo. I wanted one more, and though the sun had now gone down, I asked the young man with scarf if he would help out. Some times at the last moment, we get what we are looking for. As the figure is swamped by large buildings I would view On Black
. . . my photo picks from my flickr photo stream, random thoughts on photography, and now my new direction .... painting.

young man, take away coffee
It was around 9:30 Saturday morning, I was about to call it quits, I liked the dappled sun on the buildings and decided to wait awhile, early morning shoppers were streaming past behind me, it made it harder some how to ask some one. I thought this man might, and he did, standing with his coffee. Try it on Black and fill your screen

woman with green shopping bag
The days shopping done, I waited around for for someone to appear, she at first was hesitant, but then decided yes, and seemed a little intrigued, she asked about the reason some more. I think this young woman was happy to finish the day with a photograph. On Black compliments this, and it is larger

young women down town
I was wondering if people would stop for a moment down town, the CBD of Wellington Central. They did and they smiled as well, I wound the ISO up a bit, as the light was falling fast, took this photo. I handed out my card, and headed down Lambton Quay for maybe another possibility. Zoom in on White, it is larger
on the terrace
One often has to over come a little spot of fear, or just a general inertia. So it was good to have just stepped out of the apartment and spot this young woman walking down the street, I asked her for a photo straight away. That got the ball rolling, so to speak. Somewhat Larger on Black
time pressure
There was a very short conversation "I'm short of time, what do you want?" "just stand at the intersection for a moment." I crossed the road and pressed the shutter button, just the once, not wanting to be a nuisance. Afterwards I went to work on this exposure because of the bright morning light, and deep shadow contrast. See here On Black, for a big view

woman on ghuznee street
People were walking home at the end of their work day, I was out looking for a photo. I was mostly unsuccessful in the weekend due to weather and myself being in pedestrian free zones. This young woman happily stopped for a moment, and I clicked off a couple of photos while she continued listening to her ipod, I said I would post sometime this week and handed her a card. wine & beer sold here
I liked the primitive sign writing, and when this man showed up, be agreed to stand here. He did a couple of poses, and said "if I see this in the papers I will have to be paid" ""sure" I said, thinking this is highly unlikely. View On White to see it bigger.
skate boarding on adelaide road
I asked them for some help for this minor photo shoot, "yeah, okay" one said, "as long as we don't have to take our shirt off" "no no, just as you are" I murmured, as I dodged traffic and positioned myself across the road. It is larger on Black

take away dinner on adelaide road
I parked the car, then found a spot on the intersection, it seemed good. I waited, it got colder, waited some more, the sun came out, and then clouded over. I walked up the road to see if anyone was about. They must be all at home, I was thinking. I walked back, a woman appeared with her take-away dinner in a box. On Black for a larger view

breakfast on victoria street
She obliged me by standing in the middle of the intersection, even though she had a sandwich in one hand, the other a mobile phone and a shopping bag. The morning was overcast, but I was happy to have her photo on this busy intersection. Larger view On White
