I was walking down a walkway that connects a couple of streets. Someone came out of a property and continued in front of me. I was curious as to where they live. It was a typical Wellington villa, with unwanted furniture left outside. Sunday 17 August 2008.

walking alone
I look at this building a lot, the remnants of history and the present day posters go well together. I was looking and thinking how shall I photograph this, I have photographed it before, then a young woman appeared, striding along, I snatched the photo and moved on. Saturday morning 23 August 2008.

red lights on willis street
I am not photographing anything in particular here, I just see it as an arrangement of lines and shapes, with people and cars moving through. A general look of a place. If I am unsure of this working I often flip the photo vertically on the display. If it looks OK in an abstract upside down way, then I feel more confident, and inclined to post it.

small tall house
I photographed this place exactly a month ago. I typically take 100-150 photos over a weekend, but usually post just 4-5 of them. So many get left in the "maybe" folder. This week I am having to scrummage around in the "maybe" folder, and I found this one, this house is somewhere in Newtown or Bethampore. I would like to stay in a house like this, I imagine it would be interesting for entertaining. Taken on Sunday 20th July 2008.

rubbish bin, brick, broken fence
After a couple of hours in the park and it was enough, I followed a walkway to the street, past a few back yards. Backyards are interesting, must be my nosey nature, it interests me the way people live. Sunday morning 17 August 2008.

walking to thorndon
This view gives an impression of a small village, and the anticipation of exploring. It is actually just a suburb of Wellington, between the Botanical Gardens, and city green belt. Suburbs stretch up over the hills to the left, and the central city is just five minutes walk around on the right. Still is is a pleasant place, with shops and cafés. Sunday morning 17th August 2008.

druid hill, botanical gardens
Sometimes one just needs a change, rather than walking the streets, I strolled the botanical gardens. I seemed to have the place to my self except for a few dog walkers, tuis and woodpigeon. This hilltop has a sculpture by Andrew Drummond called listening & viewing device

I'm sure if I put little flags in a map of where my photos were taken, they would be in a three kilometre radius from were I live, in tight little clusters. I seem to find photos in the same places.

school yard
I was taking a short cut through a school yard and I came upon this colourful and imaginative mural. There was a backdrop of Art Deco apartments, a cabbage tree and an old colonial villa. I didn't focus on just one thing as a subject, it was the feeling of being here, the general look of the place that I like to document.
