Two Doors

The next two photographs have been filed away for sometime, I have just framed them. They were taken in Taranaki.

Bread

The door with bread was taken while on a walk in New Plymouth. The shop is rather unattractive, but the arrangement of abstract shapes is I think rather nice. I also like the word bread which has "Biblical" connotations. I am attracted to doors, entrance ways to mysteries beyond I suppose.

Green Door with broom and Nikau Palm

The Green door is in a small town called Eltham, home town of my wife when she was growing up. At the time I lived nearby on a dairy farm. On the day of these photos my wife sat in the car quite content reading a murder mystery while I walked the deserted main street snapping every shop entrance. They are now about 70% closed and empty but in the early 60's the streets were busy on a Friday evening.

This is the stairwell in a Wellington apartment block. My wife and i have been here for six months, having relocated from New Plymouth. I was immediately attracted to this apartment on entering these stairs. I liked the spaciousness, light, and the solid 1920's structure. In two weeks we are moving to another apartment. There will be Wood Pigeons (Kereru) and Tui in the trees, people going to and fro up the street. Just a short stroll to bookshops for hours of happy browsing. My wife is constantly arranging furniture to me in conversation. I am looking forward to this move. This present apartment has been a very pleasant introduction to Wellington.
